Taste The Water Special Report – Haiti: Two years on...

TasteTheWater has written a three part report on the how Haiti is coping two years after the destruction caused by the magnitude 7.0 earthquake that struck the island on January 2010. The report will include blogs and videos of practitioners working on the ground.

 

Part 1 – Haiti before the Earthquake

This part will look at the infrastructure and health situation in Haiti before the earthquake, with specific reference to the role of NGOs in the society and whether Haiti had the resources to cope with such a disaster.

Part 2The year of indecision

This part will lead on to discuss how the aid sector worked during the disaster relief stage directly after the earthquake to provide safe drinking water and sanitation facilities.

 

Part 3- Does Haiti require another ‘shake’ up?

This part looks at where Haiti is now with regards to water infrastructure and health. It discusses whether the actions of the disaster relief efforts have had a lasting impact, and what organisations are doing now to ensure that Haiti is prepared for future disasters.
